The National Risk Retention Association has taken
a lead role as a participant in litigation that
has defined and interpreted the Liability Risk
Retention Act of 1986. Since 1992, NRRA has participated
as either an amicus curiae or plaintiff in almost
every important discussion including the 9th Circuit
National Warranty decision which the state of
Oregon has petitioned for Supreme Court review.
The panelists in this session will report on the
history and current standing of our efforts to
amend the LRRA. They will also discuss the legal
and legislative activities of the NRRA Government
Affairs Committee, as well as various court decisions
of the past year. The discussion will include
an opportunity for attendees to ask questions
on how these decisions may affect your organization.
The session will end with a discussion regarding
potential challenges that may lie just over the
horizon. In addition, time will be provided for
attendees to express concerns they have or challenges
that they face that might be taken into consideration
by the NRRA’s Government Relations Committee.
